Admiral Kirk and his team are back to fight the evil in space. This time it’s Kirk’s nemesis Khan. His intention is to destroy Kirk and by doing so he must get hold of the Genesis Device (a terraforming device) and turn it into a powerful weapon. It is once again time to see what the USS Enterprise and its crew are capable off.
Okay, now we are talking! I do start to see why people like Star Trek after this movie because it was much better than the first one. I still feel like maybe one has to see the series, that came out before the movie, to truly understand who the characters are and why Khan’s desire is to destroy Admiral Kirk. I do not hope the director believes that people would have seen the series before they watch the movies, because I think it should be two separate things.
The scenes in Star Trek II were definitely not as dragged out as they were in Star Trek I, and that was a major positive thing about the movie. There were also a fight in this movie, which I would say signifies Sci-Fi more. So there were improvements in this Star Trek, but I did have a hard time keeping up with the story. Some scenes were difficult to understand and if I didn’t concentrate on what was going on, I would be lost. The whole story itself did not cohere as good which also made it even more difficult to understand what was going on. Although, after a while the plot became more complete and not as messy.
After this movie am I really looking forward to watching the next one, and there will hopefully be a pattern where the next movie becomes better and better… well one can wish!
