Star Trek: Insurrection (1998)

Release Date: December 1998

Time: 1h 43min

Director: Jonathan Frakes

Cast: Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton, Gates McFadden (full cast)

My Rating: 4,5/10 egcpdz

We continue following Picard and his crew on the Enterprise, and this time it is to save a planet with a healing power. The planet Ba’ku is threatened by Starfleet and Picard face the dilemma of whether to obey orders or to go against them.

I feel like there is some connection to the Star Trek: Next Generation series and that bothers me a little. It basically becomes difficult to understand all the relationships and when they talk about previous events etc. I did however really enjoy the environment, there were some beautiful scenes and oh my, thanks for the better graphics. With Sci-Fi I feel like the graphics are extremely important for the movie or the story itself and when the graphics are marvelous I just want to cry happy tears. Well, we shall not exaggerate because the graphics wasn’t that amazing, but still much better than before.

The main story was… should I say weak. It wasn’t really an eventful movie and there could have been more action and an interesting story. Is that too much to ask for? I should not throw hate on the movie though, I mean Picard your ladies man, you are a sneaky little bastard. Haha but in all seriousness, Patrick Stewart does a resplendent job and Data (Brent Spiner) is amazing and just hilarious.

  1. yea, the thing with the Next Generation films is, if you haven’t seen the tv series, some of the comments and relationships don’t quite make sense, that being said, I love Insurrection, so so much.
