The Nice Guys

I’m going to be honest, I didn’t really understand the movie and I’m having a very hard time with summarizing this movie so here’s IMDb’s description: A mismatched pair of private eyes investigate the apparent suicide of a porn star in 1970s Los Angeles.

Well… no, this was not a movie for me. I’m just going to put it out there straight away… this was a bloody messy story and I didn’t really like it. I couldn’t see a coherent storyline and I had a hard time understanding who the villain was and why people were trying to kill a girl, please just leave her alone. I just couldn’t see any motive and that really made the whole movie confusing and bad. I also thought there would be some comedy in this movie but I must say that it was also lacking that.

Although, I can’t just trash talk this movie. Both Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling did a really good job and was truly the two highlights of the movie. If it wasn’t for them I would probably have hated the movie (more than I already do). I do however also want to say that The Nice Guys had some eventful and interesting moments. Unfortunately the bad things were outshining the good ones and I therefore didn’t enjoy the movie. Well, not every movie can be great and for everyone. This movie wasn’t really my cup of tea sadly, but it might be yours!

My rating:  3/10

I loved this movie. I thought it was funny and at times when there are plenty of reboots, sequels and franchise fodder, it did an excellent job of being original.
